Peter Laugharn President and CEO, Conrad N. Hilton Foundation

Peter Laugharn (pronounced LAW-harn) serves as president and chief executive officer of the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation. Laugharn is a passionate leader with 25 years of foundation and nonprofit experience internationally, with a focus on improving the well-being of vulnerable children. Previously, he was executive director of the Firelight Foundation, which identifies, funds, and supports promising African nonprofits serving vulnerable children and families in the areas of education, resilience and health. Prior to Firelight, Laugharn served as executive director of the Netherlands-based Bernard van Leer Foundation, whose mission is to improve opportunities for children up to age eight who are growing up in socially and economically difficult circumstances. He began his career at Save the Children, where he worked in a variety of roles.

A graduate of Stanford and Georgetown Universities, Laugharn holds a Ph.D. in education from the University of London. He was a Peace Corps volunteer in Morocco from 1982 to 1984. Laugharn was a co-founder of the International Education Funders Group and the Coalition for Children Affected by AIDS, and he is a member of the board of the Pacific Council on Institutional Policy.

Professor Maggie Kigozi, Director Crown Bottlers (Pepsi) Ltd.

Professor Maggie Kigozi is a medical doctor by profession and has served in hospitals in Uganda, Kenya and Zambia.

She joined the private sector in 1994 as Shareholder, Director Marketing and Public Relations of Crown Bottlers (Pepsi) Ltd.   Pepsi has since grown its production from 5million cases annually to 50million plus today.  In the same year, Prof. Maggie was also elected board member of Uganda Manufactures Association.

In 1999, she was appointed Executive Director of the Uganda Investment Authority where she promoted and facilitated investment until her retirement in 2011. During her tenure, Uganda attracted $10billion in domestic investments and $4billion in foreign investments increasing employment opportunities in Uganda.

Prof. Maggie Kigozi is a Trustee of the Shell Foundation UK, Chairperson of the Africa Scout Foundation and Akina Mama wa Afrika.  She is also a member of the Private Sector Foundation Uganda Advisory Board, Non-Executive Director at NCBA Bank and a Fellow of the Uganda National Academy of Science.

She loves to plant trees and runs Zuri Model Farm Ltd to date.

Dr. Stigmata Tenga – Executive Director, Africa Philanthropy Network

Stigmata is the Executive Director of the Africa Philanthropy Network (APN).  APN is the only organizational member-based continent-wide network that focuses towards building the multi-stakeholder and multi-sectoral network of Africa Philanthropy support actors.

Dr. Tenga has a PhD in Anthropology with over 20 years professional experience working with the public sector and local governments facilitating public service management reforms, public-private partnerships – balancing the state, market and community as well as promoting domestic resource mobilization through individual and community philanthropic giving.
